Thoughts I'm Thinking #3

A collection of interesting, important and sometimes ridiculous miscellanea that I've stumbled across this week...
• Having been out of work for a few months now, I've had lots of time to spend on my favourite pastime: music. Playing records, sorting records, thinking about records I want to add to my collection, thinking about how I'm ever going to afford all the records I want to add to my collection. You get the picture. This article - Spinning Records In The Age Of The Playlist - perfectly summarizes why I, and so many others, have moved back to physical media when it comes to our listening habits.
• Speaking of music, here's an informative Rolling Stone article that debunks three of the biggest myths surrounding music streaming.
• It was 100 years ago this week that robots were first given the name "robot" in a play performed in what is now the Czech Republic. This article explains the origin of the name that literally translates as "forced labour". Fascinating stuff.
• This goes back a few weeks: Indigo has released their list of the Best Books of the Decade (2011-2020). I own ten of these books but have only read six so far. Looks like I've got some reading to do! Two of my all-time favourite novels made the list: The Night Circus and Station Eleven.
